Welcome to Aix-en-Provence, the oldest city in France! Marseille is situated on the south-east coast, and is home to more than 850,000 people, making it the second largest city in France. Marseille is located on the Mediterranean Sea and has has a superb climate with over 300 days of sunshine per year, so it is the perfect place for anyone wanting to study abroad.

Marseille Airport (MRS) is located 16 miles north-west of the city centre, and welcomes daily domestic, European and International flights. There are regular shuttle buses from the airport into the city centre, or if you prefer, you can call one of the local taxi companies. If you are travelling by train, Saint-Charles Train Station is located in the city centre. (TIP: Saint-Charles is one of the main train stations for the TGV (high-speed) train service, making Paris only 3 hours away by train.) If you are travelling by bus, Marseille Bus Station is located opposite the train station in the city centre.

Public transport in Aix-en-Provence is operated by the RTM. The city is serviced by a metro, a bus network and trams. Both the metro and the tram networks operate 2 lines within the city. The bus network is more extensive and operates throughout the city centre and local suburbs. All public transport is clean and reliable and tickets are inexpensive. Marseille is both cycle-friendly and accessible on foot, so many students walk or cycle.
