Welcome to St Andrews, the world-famous "home of golf". St Andrews is a seaside town on the east coast of Scotland with a population of 20,000. St Andrews University is where Prince William and The Duchess of Cambridge studied.

GETTING TO ST ANDREWS
If flying to Scotland, the closest airport is
Edinburgh Airport (EDI), which is 50 miles south of St Andrews. You then have a couple of options. You can take a bus from the airport into Edinburgh and then take the train from Edinburgh to Leuchars Train Station, situated 3 miles from St Andrews. However, we recommend booking the St Andrews Shuttle which is a direct airport transfer service between the airport and St Andrews. The service is well priced, very reliable. St Andrews Bus Station is located in the centre of town and has good connections to all major cities in Scotland.

GETTING AROUND ST ANDREWS
St Andrews is a compact university town and having no local train station, buses are the only form of public transport. Many students either walk or cycle, but if you are returning home late at night, we recommend one of the local taxi companies.

Enjoy a stroll along the beach, made famous in the opening scene of the movie 'Chariots of Fire', or try a round of golf on one of St Andrews' many courses. There are a number of museums including the Bell Pettigrew Museum and the British Golf Museum, and don't miss spending a few hours at the St Andrews Aquarium. St Andrews also has a cinema and the Byre Theatre.

SHOPPING IN ST ANDREWS
The closest
shopping centre to St Andrews is in Dundee, however, St Andrews has a wide variety of independent retailers offering a comprehensive range of everything you will need, together with a number of outlets selling quality Scottish goods. Most shops are located on Church Street, South Street, Bell Street and Market Street.
